Ch-ch-ch-changes!

.......Right so I rear-ended a guy on the way to work last week. He had stopped to turn and I wasn't able to stop in time. Fortunately his car is okay, I didn't get a ticket and noone was hurt. Unfortunately my car  had to be towed and ultimately we decided it wasn't worth the cost to fix.

Thus my new slogan:

Pretty much everything is within walking distance. Y'know except my new job. So I had quit. Hopefully I can find something within walking distance. Alot of places have started hiring since the fall semester is starting soon.
All in all could be worse. I'll keep you posted.

Cory Plays a Children's Car Game (kinda)

Okay to alleviate the barrage of boredom that comes with being unemployed i decided to check out Friday Night Magic. How did that work out? Well apparently it's only for people who already KNOW w=how to play the gosh darn card game so not well. LOL I mean I knew magic had a long and storied history. I've been on wikipedia but OMG being surrounded by over a dozen people who seemed to have memorized information on cards dating back to the mid 90s was kinda....alienating. *sigh* Oh well at least it something to do until I saw Green Lantern in 3D. Now comics, that's something I am well-versed in. The movie itself was okay...aside from these teeny little complaints
1. Blake Lively is business woman and former pilot. *rolls eyes*
2. Hector Hammond upstaged Sinestro as the villain. His powers didn't even have anything to do with Parallax in the comics *bangs head on wall*
3. What the hell happened to Hal's family/friends/neighbors? who appeared briefly towards beginning and then vanished from the movie entirely
4. Hector's whole backstory of the 'disgruntled nerd who doesn't get any respect'. Gawd that's so cliche.
On the plus side I did like the costumes, the aliens and the fact that Carol instantly recognized Hal under his mask.
Anywho that's all for now.

No Work and No Play Make Cory Something...

Day 3 of Rhode Island Adventure. Somehow I managed to get the class dates mixed up. I was sure they started on the 27th when in fact they started yesterday on the 13th (my 22nd birthday btw ^^). So began a mad dash to get the art supplies I needed and find the exact location of the classroom. In the end I did managed to make it in time. I learned the RISD art store is AWESOME.
As for the classes themselves well Drawing 1 is nice. I'll be very well acquainted with charcoal and hopefully will learn a thing or two about figure drawings. As for the 2-D Design class is delayed til next week.
Now that the classes and the apartment are somewhat situated my focus is on finding something to do with my time. Back home I had numerous nerdy hobbies such as Roleplaying and a Comic Book Club as well as a cell group, a job and multiple libraries to keep me occupied with. Now I have to start over from scratch. Luckily the RISD Fleet Library is within walking distance. A library devoted solely to art in all it's forms. It was AWESOME. Unfortunately CE students can only check out four books at a time. But hey 4 is better than 0 so that's something.
Other than that I'm still looking for a job and nerd herd to join and do nerdy things with. But no worries Internet I'll keep you posted.
Peace Out.

UPDATE

Okay, this is going to sound totally cliche but I'm sorry I haven't posted in awhile. At first it was because I didn't really have anything new to say and I post most of my art on deviantart anyway didn't really seem like there was a point.
HOWEVER things done changed!
Yes, like Ash Ketchum I want to be the best so I've quit job, moved out of my parents house and left behind the few friends I still had in order to attend Rhode Island School of Design's Continuing Education program.
Fortunately God must really want me here since everything seems to be falling in place. Between the generous donations from friends, family and coworkers, the new furniture from my cousin in CT and nice-affordable-conveniently-located first floor apartment I think that this must be where I'm supposed to be.

Anyhow I'll definitely be posting up here more often to regale you in all the adventures I'll endure.

FB Portraits

This is the first in a series of portraits I plan to post up here
and on Facebook. This one is of my awesome nephew Jorge who is actually ten years older than me.... I have a very unique family tree someday I'll tell you about it. Drawing the ear was the hardest part I ended up redoing it twice before everyone agree it looked like his real ear. Compare to the real deal.
Stay tuned for more semi-realistic portraits with sparkling backgrounds. Huzzah!
Until then...

Peace Out

First Post FTW!!!!11!!!

Okay! I've decided to join in the fun and start a blog of my own! Who am I? Do you really care?
Well I'm Cory, an aspiring comic book artist and illustrator. I've been drawing since I was little and it's sort of a passion of mine.
Earlier this year I decided to putting my art online in the form of a web-comic. You can check it out here--------->  http://psionvisionary.deviantart.com/
It's not the greatest thing in the world but in time I hope I'll be able improve my skills and learn a bit about art and storytelling.
Anyway I'm making this blog as another way to get my work out on the inter-web.  So in the future look forward to sketches, ramblings and other blog-type things.

Until then Peace Out!
